Group Therapy

Lily Somatic Zen mindfulness

After working in education for 20 years, my clinical approach is heavily influenced by developmental theory. As I further my understanding of universal, foundational psychological needs, the myriad of benefits of group therapy become increasingly clear - particularly if one has experienced relational challenges or trauma within a group (i.e., peers, family, community) during their formative years. According to Dr. William Schutz's Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation (FIRO) social need theory, all human interactions are driven by the three fundamental interpersonal needs: inclusion, control, and affection. By participating in a structured therapeutic group session, an individual has the opportunity to reflect upon their tendencies, underlying motivations behind an action (or inaction) and external and internal responses and reactions, and potentially refine interpersonal skills and evolve their sense of self.

To promote the enhancement of one's social capacity and ability to regulate, group therapy sessions will include an opening guided meditation, interspersed psychoeducation, activities and/or guided discussions, and mutually agreed upon and upheld group standards of behavior to promote safety.

If you are interested in participating in small group therapy (i.e., 4 - 8 members), please sign up below and indicate you or your loved one's age as groups will be organized by age range and begin once four participants sign up and complete the intake process.
